About The Position

This Senior VP role at Stout involves leading or co-leading business valuation and litigation support engagements, with a focus on delivering timely, high-quality, and defensible deliverables across various dispute contexts. The position requires performing and overseeing valuation analyses of businesses, securities, and intangible assets in connection with shareholder disputes, transaction disputes, marital dissolution, probate matters, and broader commercial litigation. A key responsibility is to develop and review complex financial models, including discounted cash flow analyses, capitalization of earnings, and market-based approaches, specifically to support expert opinions. The Senior VP will also analyze case materials such as financial records, deposition testimony, expert reports, and legal filings to identify key issues, risks, and value drivers. The role extends to supporting engagements involving fairness and solvency opinions, transaction-related disputes, and other high-stakes financial matters, as well as contributing to valuation advisory services for gift and estate planning, tax reporting, and transaction advisory purposes. Additionally, the Senior VP is expected to support and mentor Analysts and Associates, fostering team development and a collaborative, high-performance culture, and to build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and the delivery of insightful, value-driven solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 4–8+ years of relevant experience in business valuation, litigation consulting, forensic accounting, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting complex financial disputes, including business valuation, economic damages, shareholder disputes, or forensic accounting analyses.
  • Strong understanding of financial theory, valuation methodologies, and accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate and defend analytical conclusions in high-stakes environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to transaction-related advisory work, including fairness opinions, solvency analyses, or valuation for tax and estate planning purposes, is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or valuation credentials (e.g., ASA, ABV) preferred.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and delivery of insightful, value-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with engagement leaders to develop workplans, execute analyses, and manage project timelines across litigation and advisory engagements.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including review of financial statements, tax returns, accounting records, and other relevant documentation.
  • Perform business valuation analyses using income, market, and asset approaches, tailored to the specific facts and circumstances of each engagement.
  • Conduct industry, economic, and company-specific research to support valuation conclusions, expert opinions, and advisory recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of expert reports, rebuttal reports, and other litigation-related deliverables, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and defensibility.
  • Prepare client deliverables including valuation reports, presentations, and graphical exhibits.
  • Participate in client meetings, due diligence discussions, and litigation-related proceedings such as mediation, arbitration, and trial support.
