The Group Manager, referred to as the Divisional Director, manages a team of Senior Investment Consultants. At this level, team composition usually covers multiple products, partner firm types, and/or geographic regions or sub-regions. Guides and collaborates with team members on sources of new business opportunities and prospects. The DD will work closely with partner firm COIs to ensure they are uncovering best opportunities for their team. Conducts market research and analyses to identify areas of pursuit. Ensures that prospecting activities of the team align with business unit goals and objectives and are focused on responsible business growth that is compliant, of acceptable risk and profitable. Identifies the markets and areas for future growth and development and ensures staff are deployed accordingly. Contributes to setting the functional direction of business development in support of business unit goals. Develops and implements the operating model for assigned team(s). Owns the business development pipeline and campaign management for assigned area. Deploys procedures/tactics to assigned team and manages the team's adherence to and success in applying them. Serves as an advisor to the team on particularly complex or intricate issues regarding prospect needs, priorities, compliance, regulations, etc. Establishes guiding principles or standard operating procedures to ensure consistency of approach across the team. Ensures team members have access to the right firm-wide resources (marketing, legal, compliance, product, PSG, PM's etc.) to ensure the most appropriate response to prospects and clients. Contributes to the development of key metrics and sales analyses that will gauge the success of business development activities within the team. Tracks and reports on business development results for assigned area (geographic, business/industry category, product category, etc.). Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Provides feedback at the most critical times. Continually coaches and monitors skill development of the team, ensuring that team members have access to and take advantage of formal and informal training opportunities, foster mentorships, etc. This person spends the majority of their time with their team and has anywhere from 8-12 direct reports.
