About The Position

Broadspire is seeking a visionary Senior Vice President, Disability & Leave to lead the strategic direction, growth, and operational excellence of our Disability & Leave business. This executive role will shape business strategy, drive innovation, and strengthen our position as an industry leader.

  • Expertise with IDAM best practice benchmarking and metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to establish critical relationships at all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Exceptional communication skills, change management skills, and customer focus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in building high performance teams - ability to inspire a shared vision and empower and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the long-term strategic vision and business plan for the Disability & Leave organization, aligning growth, profitability, client, operational, technology, and talent strategies with overall enterprise objectives.
  • Own the financial performance of the Disability & Leave business, including revenue, profitability, operating expenses, margins, productivity, and achievement of annual and long-term financial objectives.
  • Partner with Finance and executive leadership to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, business plans, investment priorities, and performance targets.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive profitable revenue growth, improve operating leverage, optimize cost-to-serve, and increase the scalability of the business.
  • Establish business performance metrics and dashboards that provide clear visibility into financial, operational, quality, service, client, and growth performance.
  • Monitor business performance against established objectives and take timely corrective action when results do not meet expectations.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and develop business cases for technology, talent, infrastructure, products, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Establish priorities for resource allocation, balancing near-term financial performance with investments required to support long-term growth and competitive differentiation.
  • Partner with executive leadership to assess market opportunities, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and other opportunities to expand Disability & Leave capabilities and market presence.
  • Ensure the Disability & Leave business remains operationally and financially scalable as client requirements, claim volumes, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics evolve.
  • Define and continuously evolve Broadspire’s Disability & Leave product and service strategy based on client needs, market trends, regulatory developments, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Establish a roadmap for differentiated Disability & Leave solutions that enhance client value, claimant experience, operational performance, and competitive positioning.
  • Evaluate opportunities to expand products, services, delivery models, and capabilities across existing and new markets.
  • Partner with Sales, Client Services, Product, Technology, Operations, and executive leadership to translate market and client needs into scalable solutions.
  • Monitor competitive offerings, industry developments, emerging technologies, and changing employer and claimant expectations to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen Broadspire’s market position and establish sustainable competitive advantages within the Disability & Leave marketplace.
  • Serve as a senior thought leader on emerging trends affecting Disability & Leave, including changes in leave legislation, integrated absence and disability management, digital claimant experience, automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, and evolving employer expectations.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, professional associations, and other external settings to strengthen market presence and establish thought leadership.
  • Establish and oversee Disability & Leave claim handling standards, ensuring consistent application of best practices across all operations.
  • Establish Broadspire’s claims management philosophy and standards, balancing claimant experience, regulatory requirements, quality, consistency, appropriate claim outcomes, and financial performance.
  • Lead the ongoing evaluation, enhancement, and governance of quality assurance programs, audit methodologies, and performance measurement processes.
  • Partner with operational leadership to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement, implementing corrective actions that drive measurable improvements in quality, productivity, service, and financial performance.
  • Monitor individual, team, and organizational performance metrics to ensure achievement of quality, productivity, service, client, and financial objectives.
  • Establish appropriate governance and escalation processes for complex, high-risk, or high-impact claims and operational issues.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders, where applicable, to ensure appropriate integration of clinical expertise, evidence-based practices, and professional standards into claims management.
  • Oversee workforce planning and staffing strategies, aligning claim inventories, caseloads, skill requirements, and organizational resources with budgetary, operational, service, and quality expectations.
  • Establish and maintain operating models that support scalability, consistency, flexibility, and efficient allocation of resources across the Disability & Leave organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational transformation initiatives designed to improve claim outcomes, productivity, quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure operational processes and capabilities are designed to support client retention, new business growth, successful implementations, and evolving market requirements.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence throughout the Disability & Leave organization.
  • Develop and maintain industry-leading standards for claim quality, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and customer experience.
  • Develop tools, reporting, and analytics that improve claim quality, decision-making, audit performance, and identification of emerging risks and trends.
  • Establish governance processes to identify systemic quality issues and ensure timely root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Monitor claimant and client experience throughout the claim lifecycle and identify opportunities to improve communication, responsiveness, transparency, and service delivery.
  • Partner with Operations, Client Services, Quality, Compliance, and Technology to address recurring service or claim issues and improve end-to-end customer outcomes.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve return-to-work, claim duration, appropriate claim management, and other outcome measures relevant to the Disability & Leave business.
  • Ensure quality and customer experience objectives are appropriately incorporated into operational performance management and leadership accountability.
  • Serve as Broadspire’s senior subject matter expert on Disability & Leave claim management, industry practices, emerging trends, and operational best practices.
  • Own executive accountability for client outcomes, retention, satisfaction, and the overall quality of the Disability & Leave client experience.
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key client relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery and alignment with client expectations and strategic objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client executives and serve as a strategic advisor on Disability & Leave and broader absence management issues.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand evolving business needs, identify opportunities for program enhancements, and provide strategic thought leadership.
  • Establish and monitor customer experience standards, performance metrics, service levels, and client commitments designed to drive satisfaction and retention.
  • Partner with Operations and Client Services leadership to resolve complex or escalated client issues and ensure timely, sustainable resolution.
  • Monitor client performance, escalation trends, retention risks, and opportunities to identify areas requiring executive intervention.
  • Partner with Sales and Client Services to identify opportunities to expand service offerings and deliver additional value to existing clients.
  • Support successful implementations, transitions, renewals, and major client initiatives by providing executive leadership and accountability.
  • Promote a proactive, customer-focused culture that prioritizes responsiveness, accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, prospects, brokers, consultants, carriers, and industry partners to support revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Partner with Sales and Client Services leadership to develop and execute business development strategies for national, regional, and key account opportunities.
  • Support new business pursuits, finalist presentations, requests for proposal (RFPs), and client implementations by serving as an executive representative of Broadspire’s Disability & Leave capabilities.
  • Serve as an executive sponsor throughout the sales cycle, helping articulate differentiated capabilities, value propositions, outcomes, and strategic solutions.
  • Identify cross-selling, upselling, and expansion opportunities across existing client relationships by aligning solutions with client needs and business objectives.
  • Develop strategies to improve client retention and maximize the long-term value and profitability of existing relationships.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, client needs, and emerging opportunities to identify potential sources of revenue growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and other inorganic growth opportunities where applicable.
  • Contribute to merger, acquisition, and integration initiatives, including operational and capability due diligence, strategic assessment, and integration planning where applicable.
  • Represent Broadspire at industry conferences, professional associations, client events, and other external forums to reinforce brand recognition and establish thought leadership within the Disability & Leave marketplace.
  • Provide executive oversight of regulatory compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and client-specific requirements governing Disability & Leave administration.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology, and other stakeholders to evaluate regulatory changes and implement process, system, and procedural enhancements as required.
  • Establish governance processes and controls designed to mitigate operational, legal, regulatory, financial, and reputational risk.
  • Establish an enterprise risk framework for the Disability & Leave business, identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating material risks.
  • Oversee risk related to claims operations, regulatory compliance, litigation, client commitments, technology, data, vendors, business continuity, and operational resiliency.
  • Lead internal and external audit activities, including claim file reviews, compliance testing, findings analysis, and the development and execution of corrective action plans.
  • Monitor compliance trends and emerging legislative developments to proactively position Broadspire for future regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to clients, regulators, and executive leadership regarding compliance performance, material risks, and mitigation activities.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and escalation processes are in place for significant operational, regulatory, client, or reputational issues.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, risk awareness, accountability, and ethical decision-making across all levels of the Disability & Leave organization.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to senior operational and functional leaders, fostering a high-performance culture and strong succession planning framework.
  • Build and maintain an effective leadership team with the capabilities required to execute the Disability & Leave strategy and support future growth.
  • Establish organizational goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Develop organizational structures, operating models, and workforce strategies that support scalability, efficiency, innovation, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Establish succession plans and talent development strategies for critical leadership and operational roles.

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, staffing models, investment priorities, and long-term growth strategies.
