About The Position

As a Model UX Designer focused on the quality and safety of Gemini model output, you will build new capabilities for users and help them get the best out of the product. You will work in a rapidly evolving area with a dedicated team.

The role calls for a systems thinker with strong content strategy, UX design, and problem-solving skills, grounded in a passion for writing. You will develop guidelines, exemplary content, evaluations, and rubrics for large language models, and write and edit in a fast-paced, agile environment. Working across product, engineering, research, and data science, you will help articulate and guide product strategy. The position emphasizes delivering high-quality, safe, and helpful AI experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in conversation design or content design, with equivalent experience designing for conversational AI/LLMs.
• A portfolio highlighting content strategies and longer-form writing samples.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with policy and regulatory considerations to design safe and trustworthy AI-driven user experiences.
• Experience in vibe-coding and developing AI-powered prototypes.
• Experience training and tuning large language models or other generative AI technologies.
• Experience gathering and working with data to identify loss patterns and create actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to articulate positions and challenge partners with new product design thinking.

Responsibilities

• Apply a deep understanding of model capabilities to develop system instructions and prototyping strategies that support consistently high-quality, safe, and helpful model outputs.
• Diagnose content quality issues and initiate qualitative assessments of model performance; use evaluation expertise to develop strategies for continual quality improvement across product areas.
• Develop strategies to improve model response quality, and write instructions, guidelines, and standards to guide reviewers and engineers.
• Partner with AI product designers to craft multimodal solutions, ensuring model responses and UI components work together to create cohesive, high-quality experiences.
• Stay current with design trends and technologies in consumer technology, generative AI, and natural language processing, and use that knowledge to innovate.
