Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Software Development, Web Design & Development, Computer Programming, IT, or related discipline required
  • 5+ years of UX design experience (healthcare experience is a plus but not required) required
  • Experience with Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools
  • Experience with Microsoft tools
  • Strong understanding of accessibility, inclusive design, and trauma informed design principles informed design principles
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non technical stakeholders
  • Empathy, curiosity, and a passion for improving the healthcare experience for children and families
  • A portfolio demonstrating user centered design processes, thoughtful problem solving and polished interaction design centered design processes

Nice To Haves

  • User Experience/Nielson Norman Group-UX Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead user research and experience design for pediatric digital products, conducting interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing to understand the needs of children, families, and clinical staff.
  • Turn research insights into personas, journey maps, and service blueprints that guide product and enterprise initiatives.
  • Work spans web, mobile, app, and in‑hospital systems, to create accessible wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, UX strategy, and clinical partners to define requirements, refine designs, and contribute to a pediatric-focused design system.
  • Through continuous testing and iteration, improve patient satisfaction, support clinical workflows, and elevate the overall digital experience.
  • Conducts digital research with patients, families, and clinical staff through remote interviews, digital contextual inquiry, and usability testing, with additional support for enterprise level studies.
  • Converts digital research findings into personas, journey maps, service blueprints, and insights that inform both product teams and enterprise initiatives.
  • Champions the digital needs of children and caregivers—including diverse cultural, linguistic, and accessibility requirements—across product work and broader enterprise projects.
  • Develops wireframes and high fidelity mockups, screen-flow diagrams, and interface prototypes.
  • Designs intuitive, emotionally supportive digital experiences across web, mobile, Children’s Wisconsin app, and hospital systems.
  • Creates wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows.
  • Partners with product managers, developers, UX strategists, and clinical leaders to define requirements and align on priorities.
  • Supports service design initiatives that span digital and physical touchpoints.
  • Participates in cross functional design reviews and contributes to a growing design system tailored for pediatric care.
  • Plans and runs usability tests with family resource groups, internal partners, etc.
  • Analyzes feedback and data to refine designs and improve overall experience quality.
  • Measures the impact of design decisions on patient satisfaction, efficiency, and clinical workflows.
