About The Position

GPJ is hiring a Senior Utility Print Operator to join their growing team. This role is on-site, requiring you to report to their Las Vegas office location a minimum of 5 days per week. As a Senior Utility Print Operator, you will operate and maintain digital printing/cutting equipment and software to produce finished goods or items that are ready for further assembly or finishing with high print quality and accurate color. Your role is to operate multiple pieces of equipment in order to assist or backfill other operators as needed, under the direction of a Print Production Supervisor or Manager of Print Production. In this role, you may be working with many substrates such as paper, fabrics, adhesive backed vinyl, PVC banner, acrylic, polycarbonate, sign foams, aluminum sign boards, EPF boards, card stock, etc. Further, as a Senior level Print Operator, you mentor, train, and help to troubleshoot issues for your fellow print team. You act as a first point of contact for printing issues across the entire print operation effort and help to navigate difficult tasks. You prepare, set up and apply adhesive vinyl efficiently at a high quality to a number of different substrates or structures, with minimal waste/error. You can also demonstrate and teach these skills to others. You will also be responsible for, or assisting with, general material handling, departmental inventory, and quality control tasks. You’ll communicate effectively with other team members to assure all requirements of the job are met. You excel at job tracking, time management, file setup and manipulation. You understand how to and actively maintain equipment. This includes routine maintenance and troubleshooting along with the ability to work with remote support over the telephone.

Requirements

  • RIP and print jobs efficiently and effectively at a high level of quality.
  • Ability to maintain and manage color and profile database.
  • Maintain print registration and print head health.
  • Organize workflow in a way that is easy for others to identify a job’s status at any given time.
  • Ability to apply adhesive vinyl and film utilizing appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ability to mentor and train others, adjusting methodology as needed for effective learning.
  • Constantly improve abilities and understanding of different equipment and software functions.
  • Communicate and work effectively with other graphics production personnel to achieve common goals.
  • Work well in a deadline-driven and frequently stressful environment.
  • 3+ years of previous large format print operation, dye-sublimation, lamination, and plotter experience is a plus.
  • Experience with digital print and RIP software.
  • Knowledge of color matching and media profiling.
  • Ability to work irregular hours in addition to normal business hours, to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
