About The Position

This role will support Hamilton’s growing E&S segment in the US, covering General Liability, Products Liability, Allied Medical, and Management Liability, with future product expansions planned. Hamilton Select is the US excess and surplus lines insurer based in Richmond, Virginia, focusing on hard-to-place accounts in the small and middle-market space through an appointed wholesale broker network. The Senior Underwriting Operations Assistant will join Hamilton’s growing Business/Services Operations in the US.

Requirements

  • Proven administrative support experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Understanding of contractual documentation issued by Underwriters.
  • Some exposure to E&S lines preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software & systems.
  • Good customer service and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with underwriting teams to enter business into the underwriting system, including submissions, renewals, and premium endorsement transactions, following agreed guidelines.
  • Generate and issue accurate policy documentation based on Underwriting Procedures guidelines, and order inspections and premium audits where applicable.
  • Ensure all active brokers are vetted through the compliance system and updated in the underwriting system according to their business agreement with Hamilton.
  • Set up and maintain comprehensive electronic policy files.
  • Process cancellation notices, including non-renewals and non-pays.
  • Manage the renewal letter solicitation process for applicable products to ensure renewal information is received by underwriters before renewal dates.
  • Monitor relevant reports to ensure the accuracy of underwriting activity data for US E&S-based underwriters.
  • Liaise with underwriting and compliance to maintain and update the forms library for each product.
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager, Hamilton Select, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Assist in the training of other team members.
  • Act in accordance with all applicable supervisory bodies, principals, rules, and regulations.
  • Undertake various projects as assigned.
