Senior Underwriter or Specialist, Surety

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter or Specialist, Surety, to join our growing team!
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance
- minimum 3 years for the Senior Underwriter and 7 years experience for the Specialist role in contract surety or commercial lending, and/or experience in a commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage capacity.
- Solid understanding of financial statements
- Demonstrated capability for outstanding customer service
- Proven track record for quick, accurate problem resolution
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Can work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and analyze underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues.
- Analyze financial position of current and new contract clients.
- Provide recommendations to management on contract surety bond support to provide to existing and prospective contract clients.
- Negotiate specific terms and conditions for issuing Contract Surety bonds to clients.
- Monitor the development projects and exposures.
- Develop new business through networking/marketing with brokers, clients, contractors, consultants, lawyers, and other market participants.
- Gain and expand upon industry knowledge to improve underwriting decisions.
- Represent Intact at various contractors' associations and industry-related functions.
