About The Position

Chubb is currently seeking an Inland and Ocean Marine Sr. Underwriter to join its Commercial Marine Underwriting Team in the Midwest Region. The Inland / Ocean Marine Sr Underwriter has responsibilities including a renewal book of $4M - $6M and a new business goal of approximately $1.5M-$2M annually. The position will be responsible for driving profitable growth with a designated group of agents and brokers in the Midwest Territory. Ideally, this role will include underwriting Ocean Marine, Builder’s Risk, Fine Arts, Contractors Equipment, Motor Truck Cargo, Transit, Installation Floaters, Equipment Dealers, and other Inland Marine coverages. This position will collaborate within a large team of other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, regional and home office management as necessary. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen.

Requirements

  • Focused knowledge and experienced in Inland Marine.
  • Proven marketing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • High degree of proficiency with the underwriting process.
  • Solid background in risk analysis.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ocean Cargo is a plus.
  • Ideally 3 or more years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Driving profitable growth with a designated group of agents and brokers in the Midwest Territory.
  • Underwriting Ocean Marine, Builder’s Risk, Fine Arts, Contractors Equipment, Motor Truck Cargo, Transit, Installation Floaters, Equipment Dealers, and other Inland Marine coverages.
  • Collaborating within a large team of other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, regional and home office management as necessary.
  • Developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals.
  • Actively identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb practices.
  • Implementing and managing effective pricing and rate strategies that will produce profitability, book growth, and successful producer relations.
  • Identifying opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
  • Applying knowledge of marketing principles, pricing/rate strategies to attain underwriting profit.
  • Effectively interacting with all levels of customers.
  • Collaborating with a team of underwriters, claims and loss control personnel.
