Senior Underwriter, Construction Professional Liability Hybrid Chicago, Alpharetta, Los Angeles, or New York AXIS’ Construction Professional team is seeking a dynamic and experienced underwriter to join our team as a Senior Underwriter focusing on contractor’s professional liability. Ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in contractor’s professional protective indemnity (CPPI). Experience with owner’s protective professional indemnity (OPPI). Reporting into the Construction Professional executive, this newly created position of Senior Underwriter of Construction Professional products will require the individual to work closely with an established professional team to strengthen distribution channels, develop, underwrite and manage a book of Construction Professional Liability business nationally.

Requirements

5+ years’ experience underwriting contractor’s professional liability (CPPI).
Underwriting expertise in CPPI (Contractor Professional).
Experience underwriting annual practice, project specific, excess and quota share placements.
Strong retail and wholesale broker relationships.
Proficient construction industry knowledge.
Effective communication, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
Creative critical thinking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Proven record delivering profitable results.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills for risk and insurance metrics.
Energetic and likeable with a sense of urgency and get it done attitude.
Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

Expertise in OPPI (Owner Protective) and A&E (Architects and Engineers) is not required, but favorable.

Responsibilities

Underwrite a profitable book of contractor’s professional business with a focus on mid-size to large accounts.
Review, analyze, accept, and validate pricing for risks to ensure profitability.
Develop and manage broker relationships.
Develop internal relationships with other profit centers.
Stay current with construction industry activity and trends.
May be asked to mentor less experienced staff and assist in the development of ongoing training.
