About The Position

Nexus Specialty Inc., an Arrowhead Programs company, is looking for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter - Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) to join our US Financial Lines team. We are a fast-paced, energetic and rapidly growing MGA that offers a great opportunity for a driven, experienced market-facing underwriter interested in helping continue to build our wholesale business. The Underwriter/Senior Underwriter will play a key role working with the VP of MPL to help grow a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market MPL/E&O business in the US. They will take an active part in the implementation of an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and key wholesale broker relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of MPL or E&O underwriting experience.
• Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.
• Independent decision maker – takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.
• Knowledge of the management liability external market.
• Established network of wholesale broker relationships.
• Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess MPL, Real Estate E&O and Insurance Agents E&O – both new business and renewals.
• Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms and pricing.
• Partner with VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.
• Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.
• Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.
• Represent Nexus/Arrowhead Programs at networking functions and other professional lines industry-related events.
• Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.
