About The Position

Admiral Insurance Group, a member of the W. R. Berkley Corporation, is seeking a Senior Underwriter - Professional Liability. This role involves working in a team to generate, underwrite, and analyze accounts for new and renewal Professional Lines business, including Architects & Engineers, Contractors E&O, Technology & Cyber E&O, Miscellaneous Professional, and Excess Professional. The position requires compliance with underwriting guidelines, maintaining underwriting profit, developing broker relationships, and participating in company training and continuing education. The Senior Underwriter will also stay current on product releases and market trends, lead strategic marketing calls, manage new business relationships, mentor junior underwriters, and act as a referral authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the E&S Sector, with wholesale underwriting or brokering in Architects & Engineers, Contractors E&O, Technology & Cyber E&O, Miscellaneous Professional, or Excess Professional.
  • Must have established wholesale relationships with references.
  • Technical knowledge of Admiral professional lines of coverage.
  • Broker Management and Marketing experience.
  • Applicable coursework toward attainment of a RPLU designation required.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, underwrite, and analyze accounts for new and renewal Professional Lines business.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines.
  • Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit.
  • Adhere to Admiral underwriting guidelines and referral compliance.
  • Develop and maintain key broker/agent relationships.
  • Participate in all internal company training and continuing education.
  • Remain current on product releases as it pertains to professional lines of business.
  • Lead strategic marketing calls to key brokers (up to 25%).
  • Manage and develop new business and broker relationships for the organization.
  • Stay abreast and knowledgeable on market trends in terms of forms, coverage and appetite to maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide active mentorship and training of Associate Underwriters and Underwriters.
  • Act as a referral authority for Associate Underwriters and Underwriters.
