About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Design Team as we are actively recruiting for the position of Senior Turnkey Systems Designer responsible for the design of automated welding and metal forming tooling and equipment in a 3D modeling environment. These responsibilities will include but are not limited to fixtures and tooling for Resistant Spot Welded and GMA Welded assemblies; Robotic End of Arm Tools; selection and application of purchased items supporting the process requirements like rotary index tables, drawn arc welders (DAW), sealant/adhesive applicators, monitoring, measuring, error proofing solutions. This position will report to a Turnkey Systems Design Group Leader.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in machine design
  • Innovation, creativity, attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Must be organized, have proven ability to work under tight time constraints as well as the ability to provide reasonable time estimates for task completion.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to be “hands on” when required
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PLM systems and understanding of revision control is desirable.
  • 2D & 3D CAD modeling software experience desirable (AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCad preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Design of automated welding and metal forming tooling and equipment in a 3D modeling environment.
  • Design of fixtures and tooling for Resistant Spot Welded and GMA Welded assemblies.
  • Design of Robotic End of Arm Tools.
  • Selection and application of purchased items supporting the process requirements like rotary index tables, drawn arc welders (DAW), sealant/adhesive applicators, monitoring, measuring, error proofing solutions.
  • Work within a multi-shift flexible design group environment while interfacing with Robot Simulations, Controls Design, Project Management, Mechanical Build and Detailing staff to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Completion of accurate 3D designs, generation of BOM’s (Bill of Materials) for purchasing and manufacturing requirements.
  • Create and/or maintain various documents to support the design effort & customer requirements including but not limited to ECR/ECNs, process flow documents, sequence of operations documents, 2D machine layouts, etc.
