About The Position

LJB Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to support and grow its Transportation Practice from one of its Ohio offices in Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus. The role involves traffic engineering design and analysis, project and task management, client relationship management, and assisting with sales efforts. The engineer may occasionally visit work sites to monitor project progress and report findings; occasional travel may be required. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to transportation projects that improve safety and efficiency for communities across Ohio and beyond.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• 7 to 15 years of experience.
• Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, TransModeler, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Geopak, Open Roads Designer, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual.
• Ability to collaborate in a team setting with traffic, transportation, and site/civil engineers.
• Ability to mentor, direct activities, and supervise the work of other engineers.
• Ability to identify project issues and facilitate resolution.
• Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.

Nice To Haves

• PTOE license.
• Experience with travel demand modeling software such as TransCAD or CUBE.
• Experience with ArcGIS or SignCAD.
• Experience with ODOT and/or Ohio municipalities.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic impact studies.
• Conduct traffic operations analyses.
• Perform safety studies.
• Design signal systems and develop signal timing plans.
• Develop maintenance-of-traffic plans.
• Design pavement markings, signage, and highway lighting.
• Conduct corridor studies.
• Balance design work with assisting in sales efforts.
• Manage projects, tasks, and clients.
• Maintain client relationships.
• Occasionally visit work sites to monitor project progress and report findings.
• Meet all safety requirements when visiting a work site.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
