The MTL Tools team designs, develops, and maintains internal tools primarily used to create, organize, profile, and optimize game content (environments, missions, performance, LOD, procedural scattering, data visualization, etc.), whether in the editor or directly in-game.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a programmer, either in Tools or a related field
- Strong sense of user experience
- Ability to make sound technical decisions without constant supervision
- Deliver high-quality projects on time
- Proficiency in modern C++
- Proficiency with C++ development tools on Windows
- Strong software engineering skills
- Knowledge of best practices in software design and debugging
- Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues from diverse disciplines
- Strong communication skills in both English and French
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Python
- Experience in automation
- Knowledge of support tools
- Knowledge of procedural generation
- Knowledge of visual node-based languages
Responsibilities
- Design, create, document, maintain, and improve content development tools for Star Citizen
- Collaborate closely and effectively with artists, designers, other content developers, and software engineers on tool requirements and design
- Contribute ideas across all aspects of production and tool development
- Research and evaluate new third-party game development tools
- Provide support to tool users
