Senior Test & Evaluation Engineer

JRC Careers•Washington, DC

About The Position

JRC is seeking a Senior Test & Evaluation Engineer to support the Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) customer on the Nuclear Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) acquisition development program. The role focuses on test and evaluation (T&E) design, modeling, ground testing, fire control, and nuclear surety for strategic naval weapon systems. The successful candidate will support the SSP mission with accountability, collaboration, initiative, and the ability to lead tasks independently while delivering reliable results. The engineer will develop, document, and execute comprehensive T&E plans, procedures, and reports; translate operational requirements into measurable test objectives; use simulations to assess system performance, reliability, and effectiveness; and conduct component and subsystem testing to verify technical specifications. The role also involves planning test resources, supporting system design activities across multidisciplinary teams, and providing engineering and technical support to the Fleet for strategic weapon systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Active DoD Secret or DoE security clearance.
  • 10+ years’ experience in missile design, fire control system integration hardware-in-the-loop, nuclear surety, Navy SSP, and testing; cruise missile T&E design experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and cruise missile test and evaluation.
  • Understanding of missile system architecture, including guidance, navigation, control, and communication subsystems.
  • Experience applying Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques (STAT), statistical methods, and Design of Experiments (DoE) to test design.
  • Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and the role of T&E within it.
  • Experience using MBSE tools to develop and analyze system architecture and behavior.
  • Knowledge of Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) processes for establishing model credibility.
  • Deep understanding of fire control systems, including sensor integration, target tracking, and weapon engagement sequencing.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing to evaluate fire control software and hardware in a simulated environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD and Navy policies and procedures for nuclear weapon safety, security, and control.
  • Understanding of design and certification requirements for nuclear-certified systems.
  • Familiarity with Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) requirements and management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Trident II D5/D5LE missile and associated submarine systems.
  • Familiarity with Navy SSP engineering, T&E, and acquisition processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate system design activities.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute work to meet requirements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including analysis with uncertainties or incomplete data.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues and objectively compare the merits of competing solutions.
