Senior Test Engineer

Oteemo, Inc•Remote, VA

About The Position

Oteemo is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to validate that a regulated energy utility’s non-persistent Azure developer desktops meet agreed service-level and security requirements. The engineer will turn measurable targets—including boot time under about one minute, IDE cold start under about 15 seconds, at least 99% reachability for source control and Copilot, and zero TLS-interception failures—into automated, repeatable tests. The role also includes building mocks and synthetic data so testing does not access production systems. The engineer will own phase-gate acceptance, validate performance and connectivity, test security controls and desktop state behavior, develop synthetic data and mock services, and test infrastructure-as-code and policy. They will publish SLA scorecards and hand over the regression suite and runbooks. The role calls for strong test engineering experience, automation skills, cloud and performance testing capabilities, and the ability to prepare evidence acceptable to security or compliance reviewers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of test or quality engineering experience, including at least 3 years testing infrastructure, platforms, or cloud environments.
  • Strong skills in at least two of PowerShell, Python, C#/.NET, or TypeScript.
  • Experience implementing tests in CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Load-testing experience with k6, JMeter, Locust, or VDI-specific tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure VMs, networking, and monitoring, including Azure Monitor and Log Analytics/KQL.
  • Experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
  • Experience with Postman/Newman, REST, and mock servers.
  • Experience with synthetic data generation and masking.
  • Ability to write test plans and evidence packages accepted by security or compliance reviewers.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the SLA into a measurable test plan with pass/fail thresholds and own phase-gate acceptance.
  • Baseline on-premises VDI and assess AVD and Horizon using the same test harness.
  • Automate logon, boot, IDE cold-start, and concurrent-workload tests using Login Enterprise or LoadGen.
  • Run synthetic reachability checks for Git, Copilot, artifact repositories, and MCP endpoints through inspected egress.
  • Write NuGet, npm, pip, and Docker smoke tests to detect TLS or endpoint-agent breakage.
  • Run negative tests to prove production is unreachable and public endpoints are denied; validate App Control and EPM behavior and verify actions reach the SIEM.
  • Verify desktops rebuild cleanly while repositories, caches, and tooling persist.
  • Build synthetic data generators, masked-subset tooling, and mock APIs using tools such as WireMock, Postman, and Microcks, ensuring tests do not touch production.
  • Test container and Docker Compose workflows end to end.
  • Test infrastructure-as-code and policy using Terratest or Pester.
  • Define the gate AXIOM-built candidate images must pass before Security approval.
  • Publish SLA scorecards and hand over the regression suite and runbooks.
