Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience working for a utility, construction, or electrical engineering or telecommunications company producing MRE work.
  • Demonstrated and thorough understanding of individual client MRE requirements and NESC standards
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of the various telecommunications technologies, including wired and wireless networks, broadband, fiber optics, satellite, and radio communications.
  • Knowledge in industry standards and protocols, such as TCP/IP, SIP, and MPLS
  • Knowledge and understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detections and prevention, and encryption
  • Knowledge of TxDOT Utility Accommodations
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products and routine office equipment
  • Skill to diagnose and resolve technical support effectively and quickly
  • Skill in project management, including the ability to develop project plans, manage timelines and budgets
  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify and mitigate security risks, and ensure that the company’s telecommunications infrastructure is compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including executives, vendors, and technical staff.
  • Ability to be adaptable to change, learn quickly, be flexible, and able to make decisions in a faced-past environment

Responsibilities

  • Delegate and prioritize work based on available resources, project scope, and client needs.
  • Lead and manage Telecommunications Planners I, II, and III, including assigning projects and supporting field leads.
  • Inspect and audit work to ensure company, client, and industry standards are met.
  • Track project progress and ensure work follows company and client procedures.
  • Review proposed designs for feasibility, future development, and serviceability.
  • Evaluate clearances, space, loading, configurations, and other design requirements.
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, utility companies, and municipalities.
  • Interpret field notes, schematics, maps, and drawings from field personnel and drafters.
  • Apply applicable NESC guidelines, stay informed of updates, and educate staff on changes.
  • Prepare accurate, timely project correspondence, reports, and documentation.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
