About The Position

Maximus is seeking a Senior Technology Project Manager to lead and track the development and implementation of a complex, strategic initiative across multiple development or service teams. The position requires strong project management skills and the technical acumen to understand and coordinate system-level functions. The role ensures alignment with strategic goals, manages dependencies, and supports execution from planning through delivery. This is a remote, full-time position. The project manager serves as the technology point of contact for client and program stakeholders, manages expectations, reviews deliverables for quality and contractual compliance, and oversees project planning, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and technical progress. The role leads delivery across application development, systems integration, infrastructure, and product installation or customization while ensuring adherence to approved lifecycle standards, security requirements, and operational-readiness expectations. The manager also provides guidance and coaching to team members and defines development plans for assigned projects. For this program, the role serves as the primary interface between program leadership and external government client representatives. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and Lead Product Owner, the project manager maintains requirements, dependencies, risk assessments, reference architectures, integrated plans, schedules, and RAID logs. The position coordinates cross-functional teams and delivery ceremonies; manages client relationships, change control, resources, budgets, and deliverables; and provides routine status reports, executive briefings, and program reviews. U.S. citizenship and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are required.

  • U.S. citizenship, as required by the customer.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in Agile environments.
  • Ability to oversee project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Experience developing and deploying IT solutions using Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, or JIRA.
  • Strong communication skills, including executive briefings and clear written status reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Agile/SAFe experience and/or certifications, such as CSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe.
  • Experience with federal contract governance and maintaining compliance with formal and informal contract deliverables.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and third-party vendors, including statements of work or tasking, performance tracking, and deliverable coordination.
  • Familiarity with federal security and compliance practices, such as NIST 800-171 and CMMC, and coordinating schedules or dependencies for security authorization activities such as RMF/ATO.
  • Experience with delivery metrics and financial controls, such as burn/forecast and level-of-effort tracking; EVMS exposure on applicable contracts is a plus.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based solutions such as AWS or Azure, including environment planning, releases, and operational handoff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact and client interface for technology-related project issues, including as the primary liaison between program leadership and external government client representatives.

  • Provide direction across lifecycle stages, including requirements analysis and testing, with programming support as needed.
  • Identify new functional capabilities that support engineering change proposals and follow-on work.
  • Identify, track, manage, and communicate risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions, and tradeoffs; develop mitigation plans and escalate impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Prepare and manage technical presentations, functional demonstrations, program kickoffs, weekly updates, and monthly or quarterly program reviews.
  • Coordinate daily with the Chief Engineer and Lead Product Owner to maintain the requirements register, dependencies, risk assessments, reference architectures, and delivery plans.

  • Manage action items and the RAID log, integrate updates into the project plan, and communicate risks, mitigation plans, impacts, and recommendations.
  • Partner with finance and business operations to manage budget execution, staffing plans, resource forecasts, burn, and variance against plan.
  • Partner with Contracts to review deliverables and proactively communicate schedule or scope variances to the customer.
  • Coordinate internal and client or government reviews to support quality, requirements traceability, and timely acceptance.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, including work breakdown structures, schedules, estimates, milestones, dependencies, and resource assignments; monitor progress against baselines and implement corrective actions.
