About The Position

This job is responsible for building and leading a team to deliver technology products and services that meet business outcomes. Key responsibilities include developing a technology strategy, ensuring technology solutions comply with applicable standards, promoting design, engineering, and organizational practices, and advocating and advancing modern, Agile solution delivery practices. Job expectations may include coaching, mentoring, providing feedback and hands on career development, identifying emerging talent, fostering leadership skills, and managing stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading front-office–facing teams delivering to trading/sales; proven people leadership across hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • The presence and clarity to engage senior business stakeholders, translate requirements, and negotiate priorities under time pressure.
  • Commodities: deep knowledge of commodity index construction/maintenance and commodity derivatives (futures, options on futures, swaps), curve/term-structure dynamics, spreads/calendars, seasonality, and risk sensitivities/Greeks.
  • Risk Systems: hands-on experience building real-time risk/pricing and analytics platforms used on trading desks; strong grasp of PnL, VaR, stress, scenarios, intraday limits, and pre-trade checks.
  • Quartz / Python / ReactJS: extensive development experience with Python for distributed services/analytics (ideally in Quartz or a similar platforms), and ReactJS for rich, trader-focused UIs.
  • Agile Development: CI/CD, automated testing, code review, secure coding, and change management in a regulated environment; familiarity with build pipelines and artifact management.

Nice To Haves

  • C#/.NET for legacy components and migration strategy.
  • Experience with commodities venues and data (e.g., ICE, CME, LME, Bloomberg/Refinitiv) and pricing libraries.
  • Prior hands-on work with quant libraries and collaboration with quants.
  • Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and manages teams by performing financial activities to inform workforce strategy and hiring practices, setting and tracking maturity and quality objectives, and training employees/teams to address feedback and achieve quality and performance objectives
  • Facilitates performance and career development of employees/teams through performance reviews, coaching, and creating development plans that are needed to build competencies and skills
  • Manages solution delivery and application performance in production (app health, resiliency, performance, security, enterprise data management standards, audit exams and reviews), ensuring all relevant risk, financial, and compliance policies are met
  • Manages relationships with business and technology partners and leads and creates followership in Communities of Practice in the organization
  • Contributes to the technology strategy for their technical domain
  • Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
  • Ensures that execution is aligned with product strategy by working with product management and other stakeholders
  • Lead & Grow a High-Performing Team (10–15 engineers): coach, set goals, and cultivate a collaborative, front-office–centric culture.
  • Engage the Desk Daily: partner with trading, sales, and quants to translate strategies and models into robust, production-grade systems prioritizing high-impact desk outcomes.
  • Architect & Build on Quartz: drive end-to-end engineering of Commodity Index platform in partnership w/ peers and quantitative partners; modernize components and eliminate technical debt.
  • Deliver Real-Time Risk: implement and support intraday risk for commodity index and derivatives.
  • Support Pre‑Trade & Client Connectivity: help define and support future strategic pre-trade and client connectivity implementations
  • Production Excellence: help ensure production stability - monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity planning, release management, and change control.
