About The Position

As a Field Heavy Equipment Technician at Quinn Caterpillar, you will diagnose, service, maintain, and repair Caterpillar® heavy equipment and other machinery used in construction, industrial, and rental operations. You will travel to customer job sites and work independently from a fully equipped service truck, using advanced tools and diagnostic systems to keep equipment productive, safe, and operating efficiently. The position is based in Indio, California, and offers a starting wage of $45.08–$57.54, depending on experience and education. Quinn offers career paths in shop technician, field service technician, and specialist roles.

Requirements

One-year certificate or associate degree from a community college or technical school, or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum five years of CAT dealer experience and ten years of heavy equipment industry experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as Cat Electronic Technician (ET) and mechanical test equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Travel to customer job sites to diagnose, service, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and machinery.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on Caterpillar® equipment and related machines.
Use specialized tools and diagnostic software to complete quality repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency services to minimize customer downtime.
Maintain accurate service records, repair orders, and inspection documentation.
Communicate professionally with customers and service teams about equipment issues and repair plans.
Follow safety protocols and company procedures at every job site.
Continue developing skills through training and hands-on experience.
Deliver exceptional customer service while resolving mechanical challenges onsite.
