Requirements

  • Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
  • Effective coordination of service calls, parts inventory management, and vendor relationships to meet operational priorities.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement in facility services operations.
  • 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration OR 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
  • Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
  • 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
  • Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
  • Manage refrigerant handling, inventory, and vendor relationships in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating skill development.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including work orders, inspections, and compliance records.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs outside regular hours.
