About The Position

The Senior Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance, is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities and equipment. This role involves diagnosing issues, managing maintenance schedules, overseeing less-experienced associates, and coordinating with contractors and suppliers. The position requires expertise in multiple crafts, adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and effective documentation of maintenance activities. The Senior Technician also provides hands-on training and supports continuous improvement efforts to maintain operational excellence across Walmart facilities. The Senior Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance, is part of a dedicated Facilities Management team focused on maintaining and improving Walmart’s refrigeration and HVAC systems. This team leads repair and preventive maintenance efforts while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Members collaborate to troubleshoot equipment, manage resources, and implement enhancements that support operational efficiency. Emphasizing expertise, continuous learning, and clear communication, the team works professionally to meet business goals and deliver reliable facility operations that contribute to overall customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Proficiency in multiple craft skills including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and material handling equipment operation.
  • Ability to diagnose issues using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Skilled in operating heavy machinery and power tools following safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, parts inventory, and budget reporting.
  • Experience leading and mentoring associates, providing hands-on training and overseeing project scopes.
  • Knowledge of compliance with OSHA, EPA, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Vocational or technical certification and 3 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area OR 6 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities, equipment, and fixtures following established schedules.
  • Inspect, clean, diagnose, and repair equipment using multiple craft skills including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Lead and oversee repair projects, providing guidance and training to less-experienced associates and ensuring quality and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, parts inventory, and contractor relationships to support operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and company vehicles safely, conducting pre- and post-operation inspections.
  • Document maintenance activities, compile reports, and submit warranty claims as required.
