About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities and equipment. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and documenting maintenance activities while managing work orders and coordinating with contractors. The technician operates heavy machinery safely, complies with regulatory standards, and supports continuous improvement efforts. This position requires strong collaboration with team members and adherence to company policies to maintain high-quality facility operations that align with organizational goals and standards. The Exterior Services team ensures facility environments are safe, clean, and well-maintained through skilled operation of heavy machinery and seasonal maintenance. They support compliance with safety and environmental standards while efficiently managing equipment, vehicles, and supplies. Collaborating closely with management and third-party providers, the team upholds quality and operational excellence. Focused on proactive problem-solving, customer service, and continuous improvement, members maintain facility readiness and safety. The team values integrity, accountability, and effective communication to consistently deliver reliable exterior services that support Walmart’s operational goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures following established schedules and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety and certification requirements.
  • Strong skills in managing work orders, maintenance schedules, and coordinating with contractors to ensure quality and compliance with regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Competence in documenting maintenance activities, tracking parts and expenses, and submitting warranty claims.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Inspect, clean, and repair facilities and equipment, documenting signs of wear and recommending necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor activities, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and company vehicles following safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Order parts, track inventory, submit warranty claims, and process maintenance invoices accurately.
  • Identify hazards and unsafe conditions, taking corrective actions or escalating as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement process improvements and support business priorities.
