About The Position

This position performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, and fixtures. Responsibilities include inspecting, cleaning, and repairing facilities, observing and documenting wear and tear, gathering capital expense information, and recommending repair or replacement needs. The role involves using heavy machinery, potentially training developmental technicians, and delivering hands-on training sessions on safety, troubleshooting, and system operations. Major and minor repairs are performed, and the technician may serve as a job foreman, utilizing multiple craft skills such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. The position requires inspecting, operating, and testing equipment to diagnose issues, dismantling equipment to access defective parts, and using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs. Emergency calls are responded to, and all repair activities are documented. The technician evaluates other technicians' skill sets, provides on-site training, and ensures work meets quality, safety, and code requirements. Financial sustainability is maintained by managing work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors, including price comparisons, ordering parts, managing inventory, and submitting warranty claims. Compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations is essential, as is ensuring contractors adhere to Walmart's quality and safety standards. The role also involves unloading and storing equipment, transporting equipment between facilities, maintaining company vehicles, and safely operating motor vehicles. Heavy machinery and powered equipment operation requires adherence to training, certification, and safety procedures, including pre-operation checks and post-operation inspections. The technician will lead and participate in teams, develop and implement processes, and demonstrate compliance with company policies and values. Requirements

  • Option 1: Vocational or technical certification and 3 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.

  • Performs major and minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures and oversees work of less-experienced associates by determining scopes of work for projects.
  • Serves as a job foreman on assigned work sites.

  • Inspects, operates, or tests facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Dismantles equipment, machines, or facilities to access and remove defective parts.
  • Diagnoses problems utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment.
  • Responds to emergency calls.

  • Conducts price comparison of parts and travel related costs.
  • Orders parts and replacement equipment and tracks orders.

  • Ensures contractors follow Walmart quality standards, safety requirements, and meet contract requirements.

  • Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights.
  • Submits maintenance invoices for payment.
  • Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (for example, forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
