About The Position

This role involves performing routine and major repairs on facilities, equipment, and fixtures, utilizing multiple craft skills such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. The Senior Technician will also train a Developmental Technician, manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation for critical business needs outside standard hours and involves operating heavy machinery and company vehicles safely. Requirements

  • Option 1: Vocational or technical certification and 3 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established maintenance schedules and guidelines.
  • Inspects, cleans, and repairs equipment, observing and documenting signs of wear and tear, and recommending or determining replacement needs.
  • Performs major and minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures and oversees work of less-experienced associates by determining scopes of work for projects.
  • Utilizes multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) to inspect, operate, or test systems to diagnose issues.
  • Dismantles equipment to access and remove defective parts, using blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
  • Trains a Developmental Technician for on-the-job training and hands-on instruction, delivering training sessions on safety, control troubleshooting, and system operations.
  • Ensures financial sustainability and manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing required written and electronic information.
  • Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel related costs, orders and tracks parts and replacement equipment, and manages parts inventory.
  • Ensures contractors follow company quality standards, safety requirements, and contract requirements, and identifies and reports deficiencies.
  • Complies with OSHA and EPA regulations and guidelines and ensures quality work that meets federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation to support business critical needs outside of standard business hours, responding in a timely manner to incidents or requests.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures, coordinating and transporting vehicles for required maintenance.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures that the vehicle has all required documents.
  • Submits maintenance invoices for payment and verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved.
