Senior Technical Program Manager, Partner Trip Platform

Waymo•San Francisco, CA
•$230,000 - $284,000

About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company focused on building the Waymo Driver and expanding access to mobility through fully autonomous ride-hail services and other vehicle platforms and product use cases. Its Technical Program Managers and Program Managers drive roadmap execution through cross-functional planning, clarity, and proactive risk management, working across Waymo functions toward real-world deployments. The Senior Technical Program Manager, Partner Trip Platform, will lead programs integrating Waymo’s autonomous service with third-party platforms. The role owns external integration delivery end-to-end, from cross-functional planning through post-launch quality processes. It serves as the primary execution counterpart for external teams, converts ambiguous work into clear deliverables and schedules, drives technical trade-off decisions, manages risks and dependencies across concurrent partner programs, and builds scalable frameworks, processes, and tooling to support partner integrations. Occasional travel for partner working sessions or market launches is required.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading highly complex, cross-functional technical programs, with a holistic understanding of business-wide functions such as Product, Engineering, Business Development, and Operations.
  • Track record of shipping consumer-facing software products and features, with ownership of execution from kickoff through launch and post-launch operations.
  • Experience running programs with critical dependencies on teams outside the candidate's direct influence, and a track record of getting those teams to deliver.
  • Strong technical depth, including ability to read system designs, participate effectively in architecture and API discussions with engineers, and assess scope, schedule, and risk implications of options.
  • Deep care for end users and ability to keep rider experience and quality central to technically complex, multi-party programs.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, including ability to align diverse internal teams and external partners and influence executive stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with external-facing integrations, platform APIs, or B2B2C products where another company's engineering team was a critical dependency.
  • Experience in rideshare, mobility, delivery, two-sided marketplaces, or other products where software coordinates physical operations in real time.
  • Experience launching products or integrations in multiple geographies, including navigating localization, payments, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with defining quality gates, testing plans, SLAs, and launch readiness processes for systems shared with external teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional technical programs to integrate Waymo's autonomous service with third-party platforms.
  • Own end-to-end technical delivery of external integrations, including creating cross-functional execution plans and defining processes for continued quality after launch.
  • Serve as the primary execution counterpart for external teams, translating ambiguous work into defined deliverables, owners, and schedules.
  • Drive technical trade-off decisions across scope, schedule, scalability, and user experience.
  • Identify, prioritize, and mitigate risks and dependencies across multiple concurrent partner programs, and represent them to executive leadership.
  • Build scalable frameworks, processes, and tooling to enable Waymo to onboard and operate many partner integrations without a linear increase in effort.
