About The Position

The Senior Technical Designer is a highly skilled professional responsible for design, coordination, and team leadership within the department. This role requires advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. The Senior Technical Designer coordinates with team members, provides guidance and training to others, and operates independently to ensure project success. This position plays a key role in fostering collaboration, maintaining workflow efficiency, and supporting the development of team and department members.

Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • AutoCAD & Revit experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Design Technology, a Certificate of Proficiency in Computer-Aided Drafting, or an Engineering degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Master the design process to ensure project designs are free of errors, accurate, and complete.
  • Provide leadership and training to other team and department members to foster self-sufficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with owners and architects regarding design, questions, or issues.
  • Answer design questions from team members, team leader, and project manager.
  • Coordinate exceptionally with peers, team members, owners, architects, utilities, etc.
  • Communicate project-related questions and problems to the team leader and project managers.
  • Keep the department informed about code changes and new code requirements.
  • Anticipate design issues and proactively find solutions that benefit the owner and EMA.
  • Set up and edit specifications for jobs, and train other team members in the specification process.
  • Maintain and update specifications as needed.
  • Aid the department in maintaining good written design standards.
  • Write Addendums, review submittals, and answer RFIs and ASIs professionally and timely.
  • Train less experienced team members in tracking job schedules, deadlines, RFIs, ASIs, emails, etc.
  • Aid in department organization by keeping up with details and symbols, and by learning new software and tools.
  • Conduct field work as needed for design, which may include extensive walking, driving to job sites, climbing ladders, crawling through crawlspaces and attic spaces, and walking on roofs.
