About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team. We are seeking a Field Computer Technician to provide onsite technical support and break-fix services for laptops, desktops, and related computer equipment throughout the metro area and surrounding locations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing laptop and desktop hardware and be comfortable traveling extensively to customer locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with laptop and desktop break-fix support.
  • Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware and software.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic/non-complex technical issues.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Current and valid auto insurance.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including driving 2–3 hours to customer locations when required.
  • U.S. citizenship due to access requirements for federal and government facilities.
  • Ability to complete required product training and certification.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background verification.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Candidates are not compensated for commuting to and from their normal work location.
  • Mileage incurred during the workday while traveling between service locations will be reimbursed according to the applicable mileage policy.
  • Client and/or governmental clearance may be required.
  • Police or criminal background verification may be required.
  • A reliable home computer and high-speed internet connection are required for administrative and work-related activities.
  • Candidates must be willing to complete required computer certification prior to starting the assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or assembling computers.
  • Previous field service or deskside support experience.
  • Experience supporting government or enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to assigned service requests for laptop and desktop repairs.
  • Perform hardware break-fix activities, including replacement of hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and other components.
  • Perform whole-unit equipment swaps as required.
  • Repair or replace PC peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
  • Document service activities and close service tickets in real time using a company-provided mobile device.
  • Travel throughout the metro area and surrounding locations to provide onsite services.
  • Maintain accurate records of time, location, and service activities.
