About The Position

Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join their dynamic team. Aprio is a Top 20 CPA and advisory firm with a significant U.S. and international presence, known for its focus on fast-growing industries and a top-rated culture. The Senior Tax Manager will be part of the Tax team, helping clients maximize their opportunities. This is a review and sign-off level role, not a learning role, requiring fluency in various complex tax compliance and advisory areas.

Requirements

  • Senior Manager level experience
  • Approximately 8 to 12 years of public accounting experience
  • CPA required
  • Direct experience managing PE backed clients
  • Background can be in consolidated C corp portfolio companies, PE operating partnerships, or a mix of both
  • Prior experience working alongside in house Directors of Tax and engaging with client side tax leadership as a peer
  • Fluent in Consolidated C corporation compliance (Form 1120 consolidated returns, intercompany eliminations, SRLY, Section 382 ownership change analysis, and consolidated return basics under the 1502 regulations)
  • Fluent in Partnership compliance (Form 1065 for PE operating partnerships, including tiered structures, Section 704(b) and 704(c) allocations, Section 743(b) step ups, and K 1 reporting to PE sponsors and blockers)
  • Fluent in PE deal and transaction tax (Transaction cost analysis, 338(h)(10) and 336(e) elections, Form 8594 purchase price allocation, earnout and escrow treatment, rollover equity, and post-acquisition integration)
  • Fluent in Multistate compliance (Apportionment, combined and unitary filings, nexus analysis, state addbacks, and state NOL tracking post M&A)
  • Working level knowledge of Current hot topics (Section 163(j) interest limitation, Section 174 and 174A capitalization and recovery options under OBBBA, bonus depreciation, and GILTI and FDII)
  • Working level knowledge of ASC 740 (Provision review, deferred tax, valuation allowance analysis, and return to provision coordination with client controllers and auditors)
  • Proficient in GoSystems for consolidated C corporation returns (CCH Axcess experience is not a substitute)

  • Prior experience working alongside in house Directors of Tax and engaging with client side tax leadership as a peer

  • PE deal and transaction tax (Transaction cost analysis, 338(h)(10) and 336(e) elections, Form 8594, earnout and escrow treatment, rollover equity, post-acquisition integration)
  • Multistate compliance (Apportionment, combined and unitary filings, nexus analysis, state addbacks, state NOL tracking post M&A)
  • Current hot topics (Section 163(j) interest limitation, Section 174 and 174A capitalization and recovery options under OBBBA, bonus depreciation, GILTI and FDII)
  • ASC 740 (Provision review, deferred tax, valuation allowance analysis, return to provision coordination)
  • Proficient in GoSystems for consolidated C corporation returns
  • Run a senior engagement team
  • Review complex consolidated returns at a sign-off level
  • Own workflow and delivery for multiple six-figure accounts simultaneously
  • Manage direct relationships with in-house Directors of Tax
  • Develop and mentor managers and staff
