About The Position

This role is for a Senior Tax Associate within AllianceBernstein's (AB) global tax team, part of the Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Finance group. The associate will handle complex tax matters including income tax accounting, federal tax compliance, partnership taxation, publicly traded partnership (PTP) reporting, tax planning, and strategic business initiatives. The position offers significant visibility, exposure to sophisticated tax and business issues, and a path for professional growth within AB. It is ideal for a public accounting professional seeking broader industry exposure and increased ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive tax experience.
  • Knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing federal corporate or partnership tax returns, including Forms 1120 and 1065.
  • Tax research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical tax guidance and communicate practical business recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax research platforms such as Checkpoint, CCH, or Bloomberg Tax.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master of Taxation or Master of Accounting degree.
  • CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4, national, or regional accounting firm) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Prepare and review federal income tax returns and supporting workpapers, including Forms 1120 and 1065.
  • Assist with Schedule K-1 preparation, reporting, and investor tax support activities for a PTP, including responding to investor inquiries and managing the K-1 support mailbox.
  • Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and support annual cash forecasting activities.
  • Conduct tax research related to federal tax law, regulatory changes, and emerging tax issues, providing practical recommendations to management.
  • Support federal tax planning initiatives, transaction analysis, and strategic business projects while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve tax processes.
  • Partner with accounting and strategic finance teams to ensure the accurate tax treatment of transactions and proper financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and auditors on tax compliance and provision-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, AI, and process improvements within the tax function.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.
