About The Position

Visa Corporate Tax has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our dynamic team of tax professionals. Reporting to the Director of State Compliance, you will be primarily responsible for income and franchise, property, sales and use, and other indirect tax compliance. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of tax technical data analytics, excellent project management and communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively across business functions. The Senior Tax Analyst’s responsibilities will include preparing federal and state income tax returns, estimates, and extensions, assisting with quarterly tax forecasts, and indirect tax (property, sales and use, gross receipts, business licenses) compliance. This individual will also be expected to perform research on various tax topics, draft technical memos to summarize conclusions, and communicate results to management. This role works closely with other staff members including the tax provision and international tax teams, so being able to work effectively in a collaborative environment is essential. Candidates who have proven success implementing process improvements as well as excellent technology skills are highly desired. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Bachelor 's degree in Accounting or directly related field
  • 5 or more years of progressive tax experience with a Big 4 accounting firm and/or a large corporate tax department
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Oracle, and OneSource
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to clearly communicate complex tax and accounting issues
  • Excellent tax research skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, can act independently and take ownership of assigned areas while also demonstrating strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
  • Proven ability to handle competing deadlines, identify automation opportunities and provide technology solutions
  • Success building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external business partners

Nice To Haves

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • CPA and/or Master’s Degree in Taxation
  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Alteryx, Power Query and Power BI

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of proforma federal returns and detailed supporting workpapers
  • Preparation of state and local income/franchise tax returns
  • Calculation of state apportionment factors for multiple states and entities
  • Calculation of federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions
  • Assist with quarterly federal and state income tax forecasts and cash flow analyses
  • Coordinate with outside service providers on preparation of indirect tax returns
  • Coordinate with Legal Department on filing of all business licenses
  • Perform federal and state tax research and draft memos supporting conclusions
  • Assist with providing supporting data for quarterly and annual tax provisions
  • Monitor federal and state legislative changes to evaluate and quantify the impacts to Visa
  • Review and respond to notices from tax authorities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiencies
  • Assist with special projects as needed
