The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in various tax matters relating to the preparation and review of company federal and state income tax returns, income tax accounting, tax planning, tax research and other tax related matters. The successful candidate should have working knowledge of tax accounting and a strong attention to detail and ability to self-review prior to submitting deliverables. This individual will also at times assist in preparing technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner and assist in fulfilling external and internal auditor requests.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, accounting and tax research skills.
  • Strong experience working at a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department, primarily focused on income tax.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Tax Software experience: Corptax, OneSource Provision, Bloomberg Tax Depreciation, or similar software.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or; Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Tax Research experience: RIA Checkpoint or CCH
  • Federal and State E-filing experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the Company’s consolidated federal income tax return, state income/franchise tax returns, and other filings.
  • Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and annual extensions.
  • Prepare provision to return adjustments.
  • Assist with federal and state income tax audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Reconcile tax balance sheet accounts and prepare related book journal entries.
  • Research and document tax issues (federal, state, income, sales and miscellaneous) and monitor changes in tax law.
  • Maintain tax workpapers, depreciation calculations, tax basis balance sheets and uncertain tax positions.
  • Provide tax related data to other departments where required.
  • Tax planning, tax process improvements and other duties as assigned.
