About The Position

Oversees overall tax compliance by ensuring the timely filing of all federal, state and local tax returns and the timely remittance of any corresponding payments. Working under minimal supervision, provides analysis and accurate and timely financial information to ensure the accurate presentation of tax accounts in the financial statements. Uses various applications to analyze tax sensitive accounts, generate management reports and interfaces with corporate departments where necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • 4 years of professional work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge using personal computer and various tax preparation softwares.
  • Intermediate MS Office Skills.
  • Career-level knowledge of income tax and accounting rules/ concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews assigned general ledger accounts ensuring the accuracy of reported balances.
  • Researches any reconciling items and take necessary action to correct these items.
  • Reviews period end journal entries to ensure accuracy prior to posting to G/L.
  • Assists with the preparation of separate company and consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and supporting work papers.
  • Gathers information necessary for and assists with the preparation of the quarterly and annual domestic income tax provision, effective tax rate analysis and all associated income tax accounting reporting requirements.
  • Collects, audits and consolidates data required to prepare and file various Federal, State and Local tax returns.
  • Assists with coordinating the process of filing and remitting payment to various states for health care tax surcharges, including keeping current on tax law changes and working with IT to update systems requirements.
  • Prepares reporting tax materials including B notice and Form 1099 materials.
  • Utilizes the corporate tax deadline calendar, ensures constant compliance with due dates for the filing of the various Federal, State, Local and Personal Property, and Premium and Sales/ Use tax returns.
  • Guides and coaches other tax staff members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
