About The Position

The Senior Tax Accountant independently manages recurring tax accounting, compliance, reporting, and related processes from planning through completion. The role focuses primarily on income taxes; with indirect tax responsibilities expected to represent less than 50% of the position. Core responsibilities include income tax filings, data analysis, technical research, audit support, and practical issue resolution. The Senior Tax Accountant partners with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and system owners on tax projects and contributes to documentation, cross-training, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5–10 years of relevant tax experience
  • Progressive corporate income tax experience, including federal, state, local, and international matters
  • Demonstrated accountability in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage shifting priorities, track commitments, and resolve open items.
  • Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills, including the ability to clearly document and support tax positions.
  • Sound judgment and disciplined self-review, with the ability to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and risks while producing accurate, review-ready work.
  • Ability to independently apply prior experience and feedback to new or evolving situations.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to partner across functions and provide informal technical guidance.
  • Clear, proactive communication skills, with the ability to summarize risks, recommendations, and open questions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with tax data analysis and reconciliations.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • S corporation, Canadian, and indirect tax exposure preferred
  • Experience with tax or financial systems; ONESOURCE, Vertex, Sage, CCH, and SAP ECC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage concurrent deadlines for tax compliance and reporting processes, ensuring timely filing of tax returns, payments, and other assigned deliverables.
  • Gather and reconcile tax and ownership data, resolve discrepancies, coordinate reviews, and escalate issues.
  • Prepare well‑organized workpapers, ensuring documentation is complete and conclusions are fully supported.
  • Manage responses to audits, tax notices, and other tax authority inquiries.
  • Research tax law changes and technical issues, assess risk, and recommend practical actions.
  • Manage fixed asset tax reporting, depreciation methods, state conformity adjustments, and cost segregation studies.
  • Partner with stakeholders, advisors, and system owners to advance tax projects, data needs, and process improvements.
  • Provide less experienced team members with technical guidance, coaching, and cross-training.
  • Handle confidential information with a high degree of integrity and discretion.
