About The Position

BGM is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our growing tax team. In this role, you'll work with a diverse client base on complex tax compliance, planning, and consulting while building strong relationships with clients and collaborating closely with Partners and other members of the BGM team. We're looking for someone who brings strong technical tax knowledge, enjoys solving problems, and is ready to continue developing their skills in review, client management, and team leadership. You'll have opportunities to take greater ownership of engagements, support and develop other team members, and continue advancing your career at BGM. This position will be performed in person or hybrid with some in office and some remote work. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to our office in Norwalk CT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 3–7 years of public accounting experience, with an emphasis on tax
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing complex business and individual income tax returns, including corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and individuals
  • CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam preferred
  • Experience with tax planning, projections, and tax research
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
  • Ability to research technical tax matters, identify issues, and develop practical solutions
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Experience providing guidance, training, or oversight to less-experienced team members
  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable asking questions to ensure a clear understanding of expectations
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Willingness to travel to client locations occasionally, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex federal and multi-state business, fiduciary, and individual income tax returns
  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality service while building strong relationships with clients
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and additional ways BGM can support our clients
  • Research federal, state, and local tax matters and provide recommendations based on your findings
  • Assist clients with tax planning, projections, estimated payments, extensions, and other compliance requirements
  • Respond to IRS and other taxing authority inquiries as needed
  • Stay current on changes to tax laws and regulations and help determine their impact on clients
  • Analyze financial statements and other client information to identify tax considerations and opportunities
  • Develop your tax return review skills and provide guidance to less-experienced team members
  • Assist with improving internal tax processes, procedures, and workpapers
  • Collaborate with Partners and other BGM professionals to provide an integrated client experience
  • Continue developing your technical and professional skills through training, continuing education, and industry involvement
