About The Position

Insurity is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for managing third-party tax relationships and software, overseeing sales, use, and corporate income tax compliance, and assisting the accounting team with reporting and close activities. The position offers the opportunity to utilize and build tax skills through regular interaction with tax professionals and develop accounting skills alongside the finance team.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years’ work experience in corporate income and sales & use tax
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Aptitude for identifying procedural improvements

  • Experience in Intacct

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Office 365
  • Experience with foreign currency

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable
  • Experience with VAT, HST/GST/QST, Canadian E-Business and/or R&D tax credit programs highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Avalara tax software ensuring correct product mapping, active jurisdictions and timely filed sales tax returns in a multitude of states
  • Ensure tax registrations and licenses are renewed and filed coordinating with legal and HR/Payroll as required
  • Monitor and address tax notices for sales, use, property and corporate income tax
  • Manage and provide data to 3rd parties for development of tax provision, apportionment for corporate financial statements, FIRPTA and Anti-Trust compliance and Canadian SR&ED and/or E-biz credit applications
  • Ensure timely filing of corporate income tax extensions, estimated payments and annual filings
  • Work with 3rd parties for preparation and filing of VAT, GST, HST and QST filings
  • Monitor and tend to correspondence in tax email box
  • Partner with Billing to address customer inquiries and resolution of issues
  • Partner with Accounting for preparation and filing of property tax returns and/or declarations as well as payments
  • Manage and coordinate tax portal logins and credentials with AP and Payroll
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliation workpapers
  • Ensure specialty manually filed state returns including but not limited to franchise tax returns and Ohio CAT are filed as required
  • Complete supporting financial statement schedules
  • Oversee 3rd party tax partner projects as it relates to tax notices, audits and nexus reviews
  • Work on ad-hoc projects and research in support of the finance team
