About The Position

The Senior Tax Accountant position requires a highly motivated professional with demonstrated relevant tax experience. The Senior Tax Accountant will support the Director of Tax in all tax functions (excluding property and payroll taxes) for Bell Partners and its related investment vehicles. The Senior Tax Accountant will assist with the preparation or review of tax compliance work, management of external staff (including coordination with internal business partners), and with technical tax research activities. This is a hybrid role: 4 days in the office (Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro).

4-year degree in Accounting or Master of Accounting
2+ years of relevant tax experience at a public accounting firm

Nice To Haves

Experience working with REITs and multi-state real estate investment portfolios preferred
CPA certification preferred

Responsibilities

Review federal/state/local income, franchise, and sales and use tax returns prepared by third-party tax advisors
Execution of tax return and K-1 delivery process to ensure timely completion of deliverables, including providing information to third-party tax advisors
Complete or coordinate submission of tax filings and payments to government agencies
Complete certain aspects of investor reporting
Prepare internal tax estimates or review estimates prepared by third parties
Review quarterly and annual REIT tests and assist with REIT qualification process
Remain current with federal and state tax law changes
Research tax issues using external materials, and prepare written summary of findings and recommendation
Provide support for tax audits and controversies, including the preparation of notice responses
Assist accounting department with appropriate tax accrual entries and other critical US GAAP analyses
Manage LLC annual report renewals in all jurisdictions required by leveraging outsourced provider
Review unclaimed property filings prepared by outsourced provider
