Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience, primarily focused on individual income tax preparation, review, and planning.
  • Professional experience preparing individual and business entity tax returns.
  • Strong tax research, analytical, problem-solving, and client-service skills.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines with a level head and positive attitude.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to assist where needed.
  • Serious about confidentiality.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to take direction when needed and delegate when appropriate.
  • Problem solver with sound judgment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to contribute to the continued growth of AM CPA.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • UltraTax or comparable professional tax software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted tax resource for clients, preparing returns, ensuring compliance with taxing agencies, and optimizing tax positions.
  • Prepare complex individual (Form 1040) and business entity tax returns (Forms 990, 1065, 1120, and 1120S).
  • Manage client tax onboarding and proforma setup in UltraTax.
  • Develop and maintain supporting tax schedules, forms, workpapers, and documentation.
  • Perform tax analysis, including projections, estimates, and client-specific calculations.
  • Research client-specific tax issues and determine appropriate tax treatment.
  • Communicate with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
  • Participate in tax planning, consulting, and special projects.
  • Work directly with clients to gather information, explain tax matters, answer questions, and provide guidance.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to other team members, including reviewing work and mentoring staff as assigned.
