About The Position

Wonderbrands, a division of FGF Brands, is a leading North American bakery with 140 years of experience. We are seeking a Senior Talent & Development Business Partner to support our manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for the consistent and effective implementation of Talent and Development policies, procedures, and practices for all team associates within the facility. The position also involves Recruitment, Training, Engagement, Employee and Labor Relations, Rewards and Recognition, and Communication Plans. This is a multi-site position requiring travel to Western Canada provinces. The role is based in Calgary, AB.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in a management role within HR.
  • Leadership/management experience required.
  • Multi-site exposure with employment legislation.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Good understanding/working knowledge of HR policies/procedures, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as MS Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of an HRIS.
  • Manufacturing experience is mandatory.

  • Previous experience managing a team is a great asset.
  • Food or any CPG manufacturing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Spend 60% of time with team members in the bakery, walking the shop floor, and interacting during breaks and shift changes to address issues and concerns.
  • Act as a liaison between Operations and Talent and Development to ensure corporate projects are executed at the bakery level.
  • Oversee fair and consistent application of all Wonderbrands policies, protocols, and new initiatives.
  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot issues or challenges in conjunction with key stakeholders.
  • Provide full support for all hourly team members.
  • Provide full support for salary team members below the position of Operations Leader.
  • Execute engagement initiatives.
  • Execute leadership coaching initiatives.
  • Oversee team associate payroll issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • Attend benefit, LOA, and medical meetings to ensure proper communication and cross-functional support.
  • Assist and participate in performance evaluations for agency workers in conjunction with the Dedicated Program Team Leader and Operations Managers.
  • Assist with T&D/Operations projects as assigned.
  • Create communication slides for Workvivo, WB 24, communication TVs, and internal communication boards.
  • Create town hall presentation slides and present at town halls.
  • Chair Monthly Engagement Committee meetings.
  • Create Action Plans for all engagement initiatives and ensure items are escalated for approvals.
  • Advocate for the culture and ensure full transparency.
  • Perform full investigations on disciplinary issues, documenting the entire process.
  • Provide investigation notes with recommendations to the Bakery Leader.
  • Consult with Labor Relations for suspension level and above issues.
  • Attend JLM meetings and proactively involve Labor Relations.
  • Track grievances.
  • Maintain Discipline metrics annually.
  • Attend negotiations.
  • Perform Navex investigations and system requirements within 48 hours of complaints.
  • Sit in on disciplinary conversations and document accordingly.
  • Draft, coordinate, and be present in any terminations.
  • Issue performance issue letters for salary team below the level of Leader Supervisor.
  • Schedule and oversee the execution of the Coaching Program for Salary team members.
  • Run monthly Engagement Meetings.
  • Enter engagement meeting minutes into FGF forms with dates.
  • Keep Engagement metrics up to date.
  • Have full Workday access to Operations Leader and below within the bakery.
  • Act as backup for the Operations Coordinator for hourly Team Member Workday transactions during vacation periods.
  • Perform all Workday transactions for salary team members below the Bakery Leader level (new hires, resignations, promotions, salary increases, job transfers, etc.).
  • Post all internal positions for hourly team members.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and attend all hourly internal candidate interviews.
  • Attend all salary interviews below Bakery Leader (including CI, QA, and all other salary positions).
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation for all positions on site.
  • Ensure IT and personal belongings are collected and issued as required.
  • Ensure all salary team members are scheduled for Salary onboarding at Head Office and Bakery onboarding at the site.
  • Review resumes and coordinate interviews with agencies and Operation Managers for "Key Role" candidates (Mixers, Depositors, Oven Operators, Packaging Operators, Forklift Operators) to ensure required skill set, availability, and attitude.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers to determine current and upcoming staffing needs.
  • Oversee and communicate Wonderbrands policies, protocol, and new initiatives to agencies.
  • Inspect and audit agencies annually to ensure commitments and records are met.
  • Oversee all agency communications and assist Operations Managers, Shift Leaders, Group Leaders, and Team Leaders with Team Associate employee relations.
