Senior Systems Test Engineer

Anduril•Hudson, NH

About The Position

Anduril’s Imaging team develops imaging systems spanning hardware and software, using computer vision, perception, electro-optical, infrared, and sensor data. The role contributes to the development of infrared camera systems and works across optical, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines to produce designs that meet customer specifications while balancing design complexity. The position focuses heavily on prototype camera testing. The engineer models camera performance metrics, such as responsivity and operability, and develops and executes testing to verify them. This includes writing engineering code to control prototype cameras and infrared blackbody sources while sampling power supplies, temperature sensors, and multimeters. The engineer leads image-performance evaluation and testing, identifies issues, and communicates across teams to help resolve them.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical/Electronics, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with numerical modeling, preferably radiometry and/or optics.
  • Experience with data acquisition and processing using MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Familiarity with test automation and report-generation concepts.
  • Foundational understanding of root cause analysis principles for hardware, software, and firmware, and interest in developing these skills further.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with camera assemblies involving the integration of electrical, opto-mechanical, and software/firmware systems.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical/Electronics, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of infrared systems, including performance requirements and verification methodologies.
  • Experience with cryogenic testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, thermal chambers, function generators, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition, and measurement sensors.
  • Experience with computer hardware communication protocols such as USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, and CAN.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with engineering disciplines to drive designs toward compliance with specifications.
  • Develop and maintain software for radiometric modeling, test automation, data analytics, and report generation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on prototype failures, develop troubleshooting guides, and collaborate with engineering teams on corrective actions and failure analysis.
  • Create clear test work instructions for technicians and train them on equipment usage.
  • Analyze test data, document findings, and generate detailed reports to identify defects, provide product-enhancement feedback, and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute feedback to early-stage test design for new product introduction processes.
  • Model camera performance metrics and implement testing to verify performance.
  • Lead image-performance evaluation and testing, and communicate issues across teams to support resolution.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive and competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
