Senior Test and Systems Engineer

Technology Advancement Group•Ashburn, VA

About The Position

Technology Advancement Group (TAG), a veteran-owned systems integrator in Ashburn, Virginia, designs, builds, and integrates assured positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) hardware and software for the Department of Defense and its suppliers. Its products include anti-jam CRPA antennas, horizon-nulling antennas, and a miniature M-code GPS receiver. The Senior Test and Systems Engineer will lead systems engineering and testing for TAG’s PNT products and build the team and processes supporting that work. The position reports to the Technical Director, manages a Junior Systems Engineer, and works in a matrixed organization with hardware, software, and production engineers. The role owns the path from customer technical requirements to verified test results, including requirements, architecture, verification and validation, and production procedures. It establishes TAG’s systems engineering and test practices and provides input to Engineering, Manufacturing, Configuration Management, Quality, and executive leadership. The engineer remains hands-on, writing procedures, running tests, and debugging units alongside the engineer they manage. The work includes translating customer requirements into requirements documents and performance specifications; leading architecture design and documentation; and owning configuration management and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs). The engineer writes and approves test plans, design verification procedures, functional test procedures, and assembly procedures, and runs system and integration tests in laboratory, field, and customer-platform settings. The role also leads design reviews, troubleshoots hardware, software, and system issues to root cause, supports failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action, evaluates Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), designs test fixtures, and maintains revision-controlled test documentation. The engineer assigns, reviews, and coaches the Junior Systems Engineer’s work. Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. TAG is an equal opportunity employer. The company may use AI tools to support portions of its hiring process, but final hiring decisions are made by humans.
