About The Position

Our client, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, is looking for a “Senior Systems Support Engineer" based in Pleasanton, CA. This role is a long-term contract with the possibility of extension. The position focuses on supporting laboratory instruments, software, and networked systems used across R&D and Clinical Operations, with a strong emphasis on networking and connectivity, as well as hands-on instrument installation, qualification, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, IT/Networking, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience supporting medical/laboratory equipment and/or networked systems in R&D, hospital, or clinical laboratory environments.
Hands-on experience with IP addressing/subnetting, VLANs, switches, routers, and firewalls.
Direct experience configuring and troubleshooting Fortigate or similar firewall/network security appliances.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall rules.

Nice To Haves

Networking certification such as CCNA, Network+, or Fortinet certification.

Responsibilities

Install, relocate, deinstall, qualify, and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on laboratory instruments and systems.
Troubleshoot instrument hardware, software, and network connectivity issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Manage IP addressing and connectivity for networked laboratory instruments.
Configure and troubleshoot Fortigate firewalls, VLANs, switches, routing, DNS/DHCP, and related network infrastructure.
Provide onsite and remote IT/networking support for R&D and laboratory environments.
Manage service requests and coordinate/triage issues through ServiceNow.
Document service, maintenance, and qualification activities accurately in equipment management systems.
Execute and support IQ/OQ qualification activities and work within applicable FDA/ISO requirements.
Provide technical guidance and training to team members as expertise develops.
