About The Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. The objective of the Software Systems Design and Development task area is to design, develop, integrate, sustain, and synchronize systems to meet the needs of the nation’s Warfighters, national level leaders, and mission and coalition partner organizations. The Systems Engineer will help to sustain, optimize, and manage a mission-critical Large File Transfer (LFT) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) architecture. This system supports high-concurrency, global data sharing on secure networks (e.g., SIPRNet). The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of application-layer orchestration, high-speed network protocols, enterprise storage performance (NVMe/IOPS), and content inspection workflows, specifically dealing with massive payloads (up to 1 TB).

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Windows Server systems administration/engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in VMWare (minimum v6.5)
  • 5+ years of experience in storage (iSCSI, fiber channel)
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications or services in secure environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, application, and infrastructure layers
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with PKI, certificate-based authentication, and secure system configurations
  • Experience with STIGs, RMF, and vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus/ACAS)
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in working a task from end to end (research, development, documentation, and implementation), with minimum assistance
  • Knowledge of routing, switching, vlans, and basic troubleshooting
  • Experience in using Visio to create network and system diagrams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting high-throughput or data-intensive systems
  • Familiarity with distributed or highly available system architectures
  • Experience with virtualization or cloud environments
  • Exposure to Zero Trust or modern security architectures
  • Experience configuring and maintaining F5 BIG-IP solutions, including Access Policy Manager (APM) or Secure Web Gateway (SWG) for proxy or access services
  • Prior experience supporting DoW or federal programs

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance enterprise services and applications in secure environments
  • Engineer, administer and maintain VMWare virtual environments, storage, and all associated hardware used for these environments
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server systems across distributed environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system performance, reliability, and integration issues
  • Implement and maintain secure configurations, including PKI integration and data protection controls
  • Collaborate with networking and cybersecurity teams to ensure system availability and security compliance
  • Develop and maintain automation for system deployment, configuration, and operations
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (SOPs, system diagrams, implementation guidance)
  • Support RMF/ATO activities, STIG compliance, and vulnerability remediation
  • Contribute to system upgrades, tech refresh, and operational sustainment efforts
