About The Position

DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to advance systems engineering capabilities in the United States, act as the primary interface between systems engineering and software engineering, and manage product software configurations. The role combines systems engineering and configuration management, with responsibility for improving interfaces for RADA software products and managing product requirements. This is not a software development role; software implementation is performed by the software team. The position is based on-site in Germantown, Maryland, and works closely with software, systems, hardware, integration, and test teams on radar systems for defense applications. The engineer is expected to work independently, lead assigned technical work, make sound engineering decisions, communicate technical risks and tradeoffs, and guide other engineers as needed. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least five years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with version control tools such as git.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in integrated or system-level software environments.
  • Ability to own technical work independently and collaborate effectively across software, systems, hardware, integration, and test teams.
  • Broad systems engineering experience, including requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation and allocation; systems design; systems integration; technical risk identification and management strategies; and Verification and Validation principles.
  • Experience developing systems engineering artifacts such as specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, and Trade Studies.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Define user needs, functional and product architectures, and product requirements.
  • Use Model-Based Systems Engineering tools, such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture, to capture systems engineering artifacts.
  • Maintain and track system-level and product-level configurations to ensure compatibility between components within radar systems.
  • Independently evaluate, test, and verify software products against requirements and document results.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, integration, and test teams to understand system behavior and deliver working solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, configuration management, documentation, and engineering process improvements.
  • Lead assigned technical work, communicate technical risks and tradeoffs clearly, and provide guidance to other engineers as needed.
