Senior Systems Engineer | MSP - Direct Hire
About The Position
TES Staffing is partnering with a small, established IT services company looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join its eight-person team. This is an MSP role where the engineer will manage and support client IT environments from end to end, troubleshoot complex issues, deploy and migrate servers, support Microsoft 365, manage network security, work with next-generation firewalls, configure VLANs, support hypervisors, manage backup and recovery, identify infrastructure improvements, and work directly with clients. The role requires the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and take ownership of issues without constant escalation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience
- Significant MSP experience preferred
- Advanced network and systems administration experience
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network protocols
- Experience with VLANs and managed switches
- Experience with next-generation firewalls such as SonicWall and/or Fortinet
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience
- Server deployment and Active Directory migration experience
- Hypervisor and virtual server experience
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance requirements
- Experience working within RMM, PSA and ticketing environments
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Strong written and verbal client communication skills
- A valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations as needed

Responsibilities
- Manage client networks from internet connection through endpoints
- Troubleshoot complex network, server and systems issues
- Deploy and migrate servers and Active Directory environments
- Support Microsoft 365 tenants
- Manage network security and help protect client environments from interruptions and breaches
- Work with next-generation firewalls, including platforms such as SonicWall and Fortinet
- Configure and troubleshoot VLANs and managed Ethernet switches
- Support hypervisors and virtual server environments
- Manage backup, recovery and restoration processes
- Identify infrastructure, security and technology improvements for existing clients
- Work directly with clients to explain issues, recommend solutions and get problems resolved
- Occasionally travel to client locations throughout the region, including Buffalo and Syracuse
- Participate in a rotating after-hours/on-call schedule when client needs require it
