About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Systems Engineer with a TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to support an information technology (IT) contract. This role involves engineering, delivery, sustainment, and evolution of the client’s broader IT infrastructure, supporting their mission. The Systems Engineer will analyze client needs, identify business improvement opportunities aligned with corporate IT principles, cost savings, and system architecture objectives. Responsibilities include providing group facilitation, training, and knowledge transfer; creating executive-level communication products; analyzing system requirements for feasibility within time, cost, and security constraints; performing ongoing maintenance and support for existing systems; troubleshooting complex problems; and providing customer support for software and applications. The role requires collaboration with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and engineers, and providing recommendations for continuous improvement. The work involves supporting large-scale IT systems, identifying dependencies and interoperability, and reviewing end-user use cases. Specific activities include preparing cost-benefit and ROI analyses, communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences, and working effectively with other contractors and staff. The role also involves the physical setup and configuration of hardware and software, project management support for new initiatives, troubleshooting desktop and network issues, and serving as a technical liaison. Primary responsibilities include building workstations, managing software and hardware support, maintaining access control, monitoring server activities, providing on-site network support, maintaining documentation, supporting video conferencing and phone systems, coordinating with vendors, assisting with access control and alarm systems, escorting vendors, handling shipments, and providing after-hours support for technical issues. Awareness of HVAC issues and coordination with service providers is also required.

Requirements

  • Must have a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 12+ years of experience OR 15+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field and successful software engineering experience; or if no degree, relevant experience performing engineering functions in the field on programs of similar size, scope, and complexity.
  • Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP.
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with UPS systems and AD/DC power systems, to include design or install/connection.
  • Working knowledge of CAT5, CAT6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabrication of equipment.
  • Knowledge of fiber, servers, routers, edge switches and desktop hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal and external client needs and construct sound, logical business improvement opportunities consistent with corporate Information Management guiding principles, cost savings, and system architecture objectives.
  • Provide group facilitation, training, and knowledge transfer across client’s organization.
  • Collect, review, edit, and disseminate executive-level communication products, including written documents, briefings, and talking points.
  • Analyze system requirements to determine approach and feasibility of design within time, cost, and security requirement constraints.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and provide customer support for software systems and application issues.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and engineers and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support large scale IT systems, identify their dependencies and interoperability, and review end-user use cases.
  • Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and project information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work seamlessly with contractors from other organizations, as well as with staff at all levels.
  • Perform the physical setup and configuration of desktop hardware and software to include external peripherals.
  • Provide Project Management support for all new initiatives relating to the various systems supported.
  • Troubleshoot desktop and network anomalies and contact the appropriate groups for additional support.
  • Serve as technical liaison between the site and the appropriate technical business areas for resolution of IT issues and system upgrades.
  • Build workstations per established procedures.
  • Manage software and hardware support as needed.
  • Maintain access control by creating new user accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and troubleshooting user login or access issues.
  • Monitor server activities and provide technical support that requires expert knowledge using advanced technical principles.
  • Provide on-site network support, maintain and troubleshoot all on-site networking hardware.
  • Maintain documentation and influence team and others through created common solutions.
  • Provide Video Conferencing support.
  • Maintain operational status of all phone systems.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to get building installation and maintenance completed.
  • Assist with maintaining access control systems and alarm system accesses as needed.
  • Escort service vendors/contractors as needed.
  • Handle FedEx and UPS Shipments.
  • Provide after-hours response/resolution for technical issues and high precedence responses.
  • Maintain awareness of HVAC issues for management of systems and technical interface with local HVAC service provider.
