The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and integrating technical solutions across multiple enterprise platforms, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. This role configures, implements, and maintains hardware and software components, including Linux servers, network devices, and enterprise applications across on-premises and cloud environments. The Senior Systems Engineer manages and supports authentication platforms, ensuring secure user access, policy enforcement, and reliable connectivity, while developing and maintaining automation scripts and playbooks using Python, Shell, and Ansible to streamline server configuration, application deployment, service restarts, credential handling, and operational workflows. The Senior Systems Engineer performs end-to-end Linux administration, including patching, configuration management, log analysis, and root-cause troubleshooting to maintain system reliability and availability, while monitoring system and application performance using tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, and Splunk to identify trends, detect anomalies, and implement corrective actions. This position plans and executes application deployments, version upgrades, and system migrations, coordinating with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and maintain system stability. The Senior Systems Engineer evaluates and recommends products, tools, and services, designing and implementing solutions that optimize performance, scalability, and security, and leads technical efforts for system performance improvement, capacity planning, and resource forecasting. The position diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves complex hardware, software, network, and security issues across converged technology environments, performs routine operations including startups, shutdowns, backups, disaster recovery, and maintain inventory for critical components. Additionally, they develop multi-platform standards, architectures, and reference configurations, implement enterprise security measures, and ensure compliance with internal policies, change management, and audit requirements. The Senior Systems Engineer maintains technical documentation, system procedures, and maintenance logs, provides technical guidance and training to internal teams, researches and implements emerging technologies, and collaborates with vendors and stakeholders to facilitate system enhancements, integrations, and enterprise projects. Position may allow working from home within a commuting distance of worksite location. Multiple Positions.

Requirements

  • Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science plus 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related.
  • Will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Systems Engineer or related in lieu of a Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • 3 years of experience with Master’s or 5 years of experience with Bachelor’s with all of the following:
  • designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise IT systems
  • automating infrastructure provisioning with infrastructure-as-code tools Terraform and Ansible
  • managing containerized applications and orchestration platforms with Docker and Kubernetes
  • developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and Jenkins
  • scripting and automating workflows using Python and Bash
  • configuring, monitoring, and maintaining observability tools including Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, and Splunk
  • enforcing security best practices, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) and access controls
  • troubleshooting and optimizing systems, networks, and applications
  • implementing operational efficiency, standardization, and automation in complex IT environments

Responsibilities
