About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer will support Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) and the development of advanced Strategic Nuclear Deterrence capabilities. The role contributes to the design, integration, and validation of secure, resilient mission systems and supports systems and cybersecurity engineering for next-generation network, compute, and storage technologies, from early-stage development through accreditation and production. The engineer will work with geographically distributed teams and cross-functional disciplines to develop and assess network and system architectures, requirements, security protections, models, and test procedures. The position includes hands-on work in classified lab environments and use of systems engineering and cloud or hybrid technologies. The position is onsite in Richardson, Texas and requires an active, transferable U.S. government Top Secret clearance before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Understanding of network architectures, TCP/IP protocols, routing, switching, and VLANs.
  • Familiarity with network segmentation, access control mechanisms, firewalls, and infrastructure protection techniques.
  • Systems engineering experience that includes capturing customer requirements, developing concepts of operations, and deriving and tracing system and subsystem requirements.
  • A STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance before the start date; an active, existing clearance is required on day one.
  • U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Evaluate network and system architectures against technical standards to identify vulnerabilities, dependencies, and potential operational risks.
  • Support network hardening and system integrity through access controls, traffic filtering, and secure communication mechanisms.
  • Analyze network configurations, protocols, and system access mechanisms to identify weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Build complex SysML models, including activity, state, and block diagrams and use cases.
  • Develop and verify system- and subsystem-level test procedures.
  • Use VMware or other cloud platforms, including AWS, GCP, Azure, or Oracle, in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Use JIRA to decompose features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Support communication among functional discipline groups.
  • Work hands-on in classified lab environments.
  • Communicate effectively with management, program team members, and external stakeholders.
