About The Position

At Hudl, we build great teams and foster a culture where everyone feels supported. We are looking for a Senior Systems Analyst to join our FinOps practice. This role will be responsible for understanding, accounting for, and optimizing cloud and software spend. You will be the single source of truth for the real cost of our products and roadmap, ensuring every dollar is working as efficiently as possible. This is a hybrid role, with a preference for candidates within commuting distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska, requiring more days in-office than remote, but with flexibility to coordinate schedules.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with a strong preference for Cloud FinOps context.
  • 5+ years of experience using code to eliminate manual work, with strong proficiency in Python and working comfort in SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, including its pricing and cost models, and committed-use strategies like Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
  • Ability to define a path forward for undefined problems, manage projects to completion using Scrum or Kanban in Jira, and work independently without being siloed.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex analysis to various stakeholders, and the ability to build relationships to drive work across teams.
  • Experience using AI to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and defining solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CloudZero, Terraform (via Spacelift), GitHub Actions or AWS Lambda, SQL, DBT, Python, and leveraging APIs for data sourcing and management.
  • FinOps credentials such as FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP), or hands-on experience applying FinOps best practices.
  • A software engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast and manage cloud and software spend, including monitoring AWS and the rest of the stack for anomalies and implementing preventative measures.
  • Maintain a chargeback model to attribute costs to specific services, squads, or contracts, and collaborate with Accounting and FP&A for financial alignment.
  • Automate manual tasks using Python, GitHub Actions, and Lambda, manage AWS reservations and Savings Plans, and utilize SQL and DBT with the data warehouse.
  • Identify cost and efficiency opportunities, develop proposals, and manage their implementation across engineering, product, finance, and accounting teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for leadership regarding cost inquiries and analysis.
